Belledune Library

As Belledune Library's former head librarian, I felt a connection and a strong sense of pride, knowing I would leave them with a new and improved image as I resigned.

Inspiration

I was given full creative control over this project and I wanted to design a logo that would give them a professional look. To ensure this, I took from the local government's colour palette to ensure the library fit in alongside their public image. I also prioritized a logo that would work best on their social media, as the Library's primary platform is their Facebook page. Keeping their new logo straightforward was the best way to go.

Styles

I had explored different intentions and styles before I settled on the final product. I played with the idea of including the Library's involvement with the local community in its new logo but concluded that it looked unspecific to a library. I knew I wanted to be able to know with a glance that this logo belonged to a library, so going with a purely lettermark logo was off the table as well.

Eventually, I settled on the hybrid lettermark and pictorial logo. This styling would accomplish my goal of being a suitable logo for social media use while also being adaptable for any future media.
